Magazine Advert Design Idea
My idea for the magazine advert is to have 2 pictures of my main actress as the focus of the poster, they will be full length shots of her standing against a white background. They will show her before and after looks, of her as a girly, stereotypical girl, which is how she looks in the video when trying to fit in with her friends and act 'normal'. And the second shot will be of her dressed more Gothic and more herself, as she looks in the video when she becomes who she really wants to be and feels more comfortable and happy. These pictures will be next to each other, and above and below these pictures will be lots of screen-shots from throughout the video to show the audience some of what it includes and make it more appealing for them to watch and buy the album.
The text I will include will be the band and album name, the release date, and finally a rating from a music magazine.

Digipak Design Idea
My idea for the front of my digipak is to have 2 pictures of my actress as she looked at the beginning, and as she looked at the end of the video merged together. By doing this it will be a striking and eye catching front cover, although by putting it in black and white it will make it more muted and subtle.
For the text on the front cover I will include the band and the album name, both in a simple font, although I want the band name to look as though they have signed the cover of the album in the top left hand corner, and the name of the song to look almost like a typewriter font at the bottom of the cover.
On the back of the digipak, my idea is to have a shot of my actress holding a board with all of the songs written onto it, I feel that this is a different way of presenting the list of songs and represents the uniqueness of the artist. To the left is an example picture I have used, where I have put some song names onto the board aswell.
On the back of the booklet I will have a shot of my artists hanging from the monkey bars in a playground, drawing on their back story, and not making themselves too prominent in advertising the album, however still showing who they are and how they want to be portrayed as artists.

Shot Storyboard (pictures)
Below is my shot storyboard for my video using screen-shots from the clips I have filmed:
Music Artist Development
Name: The Monkeys
A monkey is an animal associated with fun and excitement, this is the image that I want my band to portray, and so I chose this name in order for people to associate them with being an exciting and different band. The name is also very memorable, as it is unique and fairly individual.
Image: The way I want my band to look is fairly normal so that they are relatable to their audience, and so that it properly reflects their back story. They will have a similar style although they won't look the same so that it shows them as individuals, they will wear casual clothes such as converse, jeans and and a t-shirt.
Back Story: The Monkeys started out as childhood friends, growing up together and going to music classes together. They decided to come together as a band when they were teenagers and have gradually become more popular. They got their band name from when they used to play on the monkey bars together when they were younger, and wanted to
Comparable Artists: They are comparable to bands such as you me at six or the arctic monkeys for their style of music and the style of their videos. They also relate to bands like the vamps as they are young and new into the music industry.
How I will 'Sell' the Artist: I will sell the artists by using an image of them both on the monkey bars in the digipak to show some of their back story and to show the auxin a side to them other than just when they are singing. However on the front of the digipak the picture will not be of them, it will instead be an image of the actress in the video's face, half of how she is at the beginning and half of how she is at the end. This image will be eye catching in order to make people notice the album ad to show the artists as adventurous in the way they advertise themselves.

Target Audience for my Music Video
Target audience:
I feel that the age of my target audience would be fairly young, perhaps mid teens to early twenties, this is because the people in my video are around this age (17/18), and it means that they would be more relatable for the audience. They would be able to relate to what my main actress is going through at that time in her life.
In terms of the gender for my target audience, I am going to aim it at both genders. The style of the song itself is popular among males and females, and by my band members being male and the actress being female, it will be relatable for both genders. As well as this I feel that the settings and the mise-en-scene I have used will appeal to both genders, being outdoors and very natural, the concept of light and candles is something both genders can understand, and as the storyline is very simple, it appeals equally to both genders.
The style of the music is slightly more alternative, so the audience for the song would be someone fairly more alternative and different. Although as the alternative audience for music is fairly small and quite specific, I will be aiming my video to a wider range of people.

The Main Actress- End Look
Below shows the look I created on my main actress at the end of the music video. This look is intended to portray a very individual, slightly gothic and even a grunge type of look. I created this look as a contrast to what you see the girl to look like at the start of the video, to emphasize how she has changed, I showed this through her clothes, and her makeup, all being dark and almost like a tomboy.

Audience Research Questionnaire
Below is the questionnaire I wrote in order to do research on what people want and expect in a music video, this means that when creating my music video I can suit it to how people want it to be. I will have another post showing my results from this questionnaire.

Shot Storyboard
Below is a table of how I want my video to be. It shows ideas I have for each shot, and how long it will last for, as well as the type of shot it is. By creating this it will make it easier for me both when I am filming and when I am editing my video, as I will know what shots I need to film, and when I am editing I will know how long each shot needs to last in order to fit with the time of the video.
